Hallways at Lathrop High School Going to the Dogs
Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, AK, welcomes approximately 1,421 ninth through twelfth graders through its doors each morning. Part of the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, the 58-year-old facility opened in 1955 and continues to serve families in central Fairbanks. Recent renovations to the building include new floor coverings that address housekeeping concerns and incorporate the image of an Alaskan malamute in a colorful design that brightens the lobby and hallways.

When administrators at Lathrop High School decided to renovate the 58-year-old building, they looked for a floor covering to replace worn carpeting in hallways that had become difficult to keep clean. Heeding the advice of the project architect, they turned to norament® grano and norament grano stairtreads, attracted to the floor’s promise of long life and a low-maintenance cleaning regimen that has significantly reduced maintenance costs. Since the floor’s installation, everyone connected with the school has also come to appreciate the floor covering’s impact on aesthetics and school spirit, thanks to a lively design that features school colors and incorporates the image of an Alaskan malamute, the school mascot, into the lobby floor and colorful paw prints that run down corridors.
