Challenge

For the new OR center of 23 operating rooms, of which two are hybrid with an area of 10,000 m², low operating costs are of great importance. The client also wanted floor coverings of the highest quality, which also underline the modern design of UMC Utrecht.

Unlike other elastic floor coverings, nora rubber floor coverings do not have to be coated. This not only saves time and money, but also makes continuous operation possible - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Especially in operating complexes – such as in the UMC Utrecht – that is of great importance.

During the construction of the new operating theater center of UMC Utrecht, we have largely worked with low-emission construction and finishing materials.

We opted for the rubber floor coverings of nora, certified with the Finnish eco-label M1 and the German Blue Angel.

Also in terms of hygiene, the rubber floor coverings are convincing: They are insensitive to dirt and resistant to surface disinfectants. In addition, a short-term exposure to solvents, diluted acids or lyes does not leave any lasting traces. Even skin disinfectants containing iodine / chlorhexidine can be removed easily and without any traces.
