Tuslaw Elementary School

Constructed to serve 550 students, ranging from pre-k through fourth grade, Tuslaw Elementary consolidated three older facilities built in the 1930s. As plans for the new school took shape, the school district worked to create a comfortable, colorful and modern environment that would welcome children and enhance the learning experience.  

nora was chosen to outfit the cafeteria, corridors and classrooms. “We went to several different schools to look at materials used in their facilities. nora was in one of the schools, and we were very pleased with what we saw,” says Al Osler, superintendent, Tuslaw School District. “We were told that over time, when we buff the floor, it can develop a nice shine, which is proving to be true. Where before we had to strip and wax and do all of that, with nora we don’t have to do any of those things, which has been a real plus maintenance-wise, a big time saver.”  

Classrooms, which are more than 300 square feet larger than the old classrooms, incorporate color coding as a method of way finding. “You can send an elementary child out into the hallway and say go to the green room instead of a room number, and they can get there,” shares Osler. nora’s broad portfolio easily supported the ambitious color palette. “I would tell another superintendent that we’ve had a good experience with nora.  It’s low maintenance and the color selection supports a colorful elementary environment. It’s everything we wanted.”
