The large number of students who participate in recreational programming at Kent State University dictated a need for officials to use durable building products that maintain their look and can be cleaned efficiently. When the ice arena was originally built, Kent State opted to install the ultra-durable norament^® grano 992 around the ice rink to prevent skates from puncturing and slicing the floors. Impressed with the floor’s extended performance, administrators are replacing carpeting in office areas in the ice rink with nora^® flooring. In addition, they are using the chemical-free nora^® pro clean system to clean and add shine to the existing flooring, helping to achieve a consistent look between the older and newer floor coverings. The SRWC features nora in its free weights section, with school officials citing the floor’s durability and low-maintenance requirements that help keep a busy recreational facility running smoothly. Recently, the school also replaced carpet underneath the cardio equipment, which had been difficult to keep clean. By switching to nora flooring, custodians have saved time and energy on maintenance while keeping the floors sanitary and looking nice.
