nora® rubber floorcoverings in the kindergarten at Niederbrechen
Child's-play orientation and a feel-good atmosphere

"Come in. You're very welcome!"This is the upbeat mood, so important for small children, communicated by the kindergarten in Niederbrechen to its young visitors. As soon as you enter, architecture and colour scheme create a light, inviting ambiance of benevolent clarity, reflected not least in the flooring design. For instance, "opening" inlays guide you towards the interior of the building, and the geometrical symbol discernible from the entrance turns out to be a "House in the Country ", a symbol for togetherness and fellow-feeling. The staircovering has been intentionally colour-differentiated from the attractively light yellow floor, so as to emphasize the functional transition from a level surface to the half-landing. In the entrance and staircase areas, a floor guidance system has been integrated, so as to give the children a feeling of reassuring orientation. Border stripes at the sides guide the children to their own group, colour-coded in either red or green. The adjoining corridor on the ground floor is a popular place for playing in, and in particular an alternative to the garden when the weather is bad. The entrance areas in front of the doors to the group rooms are identified by large-area symbols in the floorcovering as "crossroads". Coloured arrows outlined in blue point the way, and support orientation to the kindergarten group involved. In addition, continuous side stripes from the floor guidance system, regularly interrupted about three metres before the group rooms, provide the children with some indication for the speed they're moving at. This design has been implemented in a similar form for the upper storey corridor as well.

The floorcoverings in the group rooms are plain in the colour of the group concerned, so as to ensure flexible options for positioning the furniture. In the associated gallery areas, optimum finish has been achieved by incorporating stripes in front of the rails.

A central multi-purpose room with a gallery is the focus for putting play ideas into practice or playing together under supervision. This central point is likewise visualized by the flooring design using an inlaid coloured circle.

By contrast, the gallery, all in peaceful blue, with its symbols of the night, constitutes the rest and sleep area, rounding off the options provided by this inspired day care facility.

The interior concept formulated by the architects Meyer from Niederbrechen, with its multiplicity of colours and its extensive inlays, was consummately suited to Freudenberg Bausysteme' comprehensive nora® rubber floorcovering system. The exceptionally wide choice of colours, the resilient, work-friendly material and the eco-compatibility of the rubber floorings are ideal preconditions for an upbeat atmosphere in public buildings. Wear-resistance, long lifetime and trouble-free cleaning, moreover, translate into enduring cost-efficiency.

In the kindergarten at Niederbrechen, 650 m2 noraplan® stone were installed, helping to create an upbeat ambiance, fostered by the attractive sprinkled pattern in four fresh hues - not least due to the professionally expert installation job performed by the Birlenbach company from Limburg.
