nora rubber floorings in treatment rooms and operating theaters The Hessingpark Clinic in Augsburg has specialized in holistically conceived orthopedic treatment. This includes not only the very latest operation methods and state-of-the-art technology, but also the service quality and ambience of a first-class hotel. All this is housed in an architecture featuring short distances, spacious layouts and patients' rooms with upmarket furnishings and fixtures. The Hessingpark Clinic is accommodated in a new building, erected in the spacious grounds of the Hessing Foundation in Augsburg-Göggingen and designed by the architects Jürgen Schroeder and Sebastian Meissler, Munich. The exterior is characterized by generously dimensioned expanses of windows and white-plastered walls, a décor continued inside, supplemented there by features like wooden and stone floors. For the treatment and examination rooms, and the operating theaters, however, the client and the architects chose a flooring that firstly accentuates the interior design concept and secondly meets the more stringent hygiene-related requirements of a clinic. For this reason, they selected nora rubber floorings, which provide an ideal combination of functionality and aesthetics. There are around 250 different colours and a multitude of surfaces to choose from in the collection offered by Freudenberg Bausysteme, who have been working with rubber for more than 50 years, with particular attention to its material-specific properties. The rubber floorings produced by the Weinheim-based company stand up well to even the toughest of stresses, and by virtue of their resilience offer a high degree of walking comfort. They are resistant to disinfectants, anti-slip, and easy and economical to clean. What's more, thanks to the flooring's composition there can be no emission of substances in health-hazardous concentrations. The rubber floorings from the Weinheim-based manufacturer do not contain any PVC or halogens, and so in the event of a fire will not release any hydrogen chloride gases, which may lead to acid burns in the respiratory passages and will form hydrochloric acid in conjunction with extinguishing water. Floorcoverings made of rubber have been classified as flame-retardant in conformity with DIN 4102, Part 1 and equivalent international standards. The Hessingpark Clinic features noraplan plus, a flooring with high-contrast, multi-coloured granulate, and noraplan stone, a flooring with a discreet, non-directional sprinkled pattern and a reflection-breaking surface structure. Both these qualities, like all nora rubber floorings, are antistatic, possessing a very low charge build-up propensity. For areas requiring a special degree of protection, however, the floorings can be provided with additional characteristics. For this reason, noraplan plus al has been installed in the operating theatres, for example, in the X-ray zone and the room for magnetic resonance tomography. This is an electrostatically dissipative quality, which was installed in a conductive configuration featuring copper tapes. The Hessingpark Clinic's highly specialized medical team currently performs about 2,000 operations a year, for both outpatients and short-stay cases. The notable feature here is the idea of holistic care under one roof, from the initial examination to the operation, and afterwards to formulation of exercise and diet plans in conjunction with the comprehensive service provided for the patients. The Hessingpark Clinic has modeled itself on the clinics in the Anglo-American nations, and is thus progressing in a modern-day context the requirements laid down by the founder of the Friedrich Hessing Foundation - in a building whose architecture is centered around the human being.
