nora® rubber floorcoverings in the Bentley and Lamborghini Pavilions at Autostadt, Wolfsburg/Germany
Journey to the Center of Elegance, Power and Strength
From outside, the massive black 15-meter-high structure looks mysterious, even threatening. Those venturing inside will find themselves in an almost oppressive darkness: the walls and the noraplan rubber flooring are black. On one wall, captive inside a cage, is the world's fastest series-production car.
Only a few paces away is the Bentley Pavilion, almost inconspicuously embedded in the hilly landscape of Wolfsburg's motor-car metropolis, called "Autostadt". Anyone entering this pavilion is first guided into the mysterious depths of the Earth.
Down a staircase spiraling around a gigantic crankshaft, sparingly illuminated by green lamps, the visitors descend to the centerpoint of the Bentley Pavilion, where upper-class elegance reigns in quintessentially British understatement. Sophisticated lighting systems ensure that despite the generous highlighting the luxury cars are the uncontested focus of admiring attention. The spacious floor is of particular importance in this context. The noraplan® rubber flooring from Freudenberg Bausysteme KG is part of this underground décor concept. With its numerous reflecting points of light, however, the flooring itself remains courteously in the background. In muted gray, it blends discreetly into the fantasy realm where visitors hit gold in their underground search for a star among the automotive aristocracy, the Bentley.
The presentation concept is quite a different one for the automobile which quickens the pulse of all sports car fans: the Lamborghini. Imprisoned behind bars, in a thrilling light and sound show it fights for its freedom, and in the end successfully breaks through the walls of its prison and vanishes from the visitors' view. During this struggle, only one thing matters: the Lamborghini. Time and space disappear as the spectacle unfolds. And all the while the visitors are standing on a floor just like the ground the sports car is yearning to feel under its tires: like freshly poured asphalt, mirror-smooth as a mountain lake, the black noraplan® tempts you to glide effortlessly into top-speed exhilaration.
Around 600 visitors an hour can experience this five-minute spectacle. The Bentley Pavilion's capacity is even higher, at 900 visitors an hour. All these people mean a lot of stress on the flooring, particularly. But the rubber floorings from the world's market leader are exceptionally durable, as they successfully demonstrate day in, day out, and not just in the Autostadt: at airports, in public buildings, in residential structures and in industrial facilities. The wide choice of products and the innovative designs available, ranging from classical elegance to colorful trendiness, make them ideal partners for esthetically enhanced room concepts at a multitude of venues.
