Frequently asked questions

Why does the floorcovering look dirty despite routine cleaning?

Inadequate treatment of rubber floorcoverings can cause a film of dirt to develop which is difficult or even impossible to remove with a traditional wash polish.

If residues of the factory protective film or other soiling remains after initial cleaning, they will be completely imbedded in the protective film to be applied later on. But even the continual use of highly concentrated wash polish products over a longer period of time can lead to the entrapment of dirt.

It is also important to select the right type of wash polish.

If the cleaning portion of the wash polish is too low and the protective portion too high, this can also lead to the accumulation of a film of dirt. Such floor cleaning products also have a tendency of building up trodden-out tracks.

The dirt entrapped in the protective film can often only be removed by intensive intermediate cleaning with an appropriate basic cleaning agent. An initial polishing should then be carried out according to our cleaning recommendations.

What causes an elastic floorcovering to squeak when walked upon?

Squeaking may occur when walking upon elastic floorcoverings made of rubber, linoleum, PVC, etc. These noises may be considered as more or less unpleasant by the subjective user.

The amount of floorcovering squeaking depends on the material of the shoe sole, the manner of walking and the polishing agent used on the floorcoverings.

Rubber soles can cause loud squeaking in comparison to leather soles. This often is the case for floorcoverings which have too little protective film. In this case, Rubber soles can cause loud squeaking in comparison to leather soles. This often is the case for floorcoverings which have too little protective film. In this case, nora® rubber floorcoverings should be treated with an appropriate wash polish in increased concentration following a thorough cleaning. The application of an appropriate emulsion clearly reduces or fully eliminates squeaking noises.

How can stains be removed?

Even before installing the floorcoverings, you should inform yourself about the effect of chemicals, medicines or even beverages such as red wine or coffee in forming stains. To avoid staining, spilled material should be immediately removed from the floor-covering.

Our cleaning recommendations for nora® rubber floorcoverings include a stain table for the removal of common medicines and a stain table for removal of other typical stains.
