Of all the parts of a building, it is the stairwells which constitute a particularly critical area when it comes to noise origination. With our norament® stairtreads, we are already offering a solution for improving footfall sound protection. With an improvement in footfall sound absorption of 12 dB, we are overfulfilling the currently valid requirements for footfall sound protection. However, this is frequently not enough.
Recommendation on how to install the stairtreads on a cement-type staircase:
- The subfloors involved must correspond to the DIN standard 18 365 and exhibit a marked stair nosing.
- Apply dispersion adhesive, e.g. "K 188 E",
v", to the entire surface of the insulating base, e.g."TF 303", before fixing.
- Cut inner and outer angles to size, and fix them with Neoprene.
- Cut stairtreads for a snug fit, and fix them with nora®
Stepform 240 or Neoprene.
When the job in question consists of refurbishing trodden-out wooden or cement steps, you must fit a Type S repair angle. Whether the requisite primers and levelling compounds are in each case suitable for the intended purpose should be checked with the supplier of the process materials concerned.
Tested improvement in footfall sound absorption:
| norament® 925 stairtread on "Ebofloor" |
Lw = 22 dB |
| norament® 925 stairtread on "Thomsit TF 303" |
Lw = 18 dB |
Approval of the resilient insulating base only for
"TF 303"from Messrs. Thomsit + "Ebofloor" from Messrs. Ebnöther.
