The contractor must inspect the subfloor for moisture within the framework of his inspection duties. The inspection is only limited down to the lower edge of the laid screed. The moisture observed in the screed offers no guarantee for a safe installation on heterogeneous screeds. Moisture from the concrete floor can cause subsequent damage to the floorcovering. The contractor should obtain from the customer the thickness of the screed as specified by the contract to enable him to check for thickness differences during his inspection.
A CM device has proven to be the best device for determining the moisture level of screeds.
The following moisture values are the maximum allowed moisture limits for unheated floor structures:
| Concrete |
< 6.0 percentage of weight % (Darr) apply damp course |
| Cement screed |
< 2.0 CM % |
| Anhydrite screed |
< 0.5 CM % |
| Anhydrite flow screed |
< 0.5 CM % |
