ESD SolutionsThe friction and separation of two touching materials or the action of an electric field on a person’s body can cause electrostatic charges. The strength of the charge is particularly dependant on the charging propensity of the materials and the relative air humidity of the ambience. Higher charges occur in atmospheres with dry air compared to those with relative high air humidity. The most common appearance of electrostatic discharges (ESD) is lightning discharge in thunderstorms. If charges are not dissipated in a controlled way, failures and damages can occur, e.g.:
Electronic components are extremely sensitive to electrostatic discharges. Even discharges of 10 volts can lead to damage and destruction. Electrostatic conductive „ec“nora® "ec"-floorcoverings (bleeder resistance smaller than 106 ohm; see also technical data sheet) offer protection for electronic components and devices, and protection against explosions triggered by electrostatic discharges. Electrostatic dissipative „ed“nora® "ed"-floorcoverings (bleeder resistance 106 - 9*107 Ohm; see also technical data sheet) provide a multi function: They offer protection for electronic components and devices, and also provide staff safety for those working with live voltages. |
