General remarks:
Any installation must be based on the technical rules and standards applicable in each respective country, such as the country specific fire-protection requirements for wall coverings.
These floorings should not be installed in wet areas.
I. Sub-floors:
Suitable sub-floors are cemented sub-floors, dry building elements, as well as wooden sub-floors. Sub-floors must be permanently dry, stable, and dust-free. Dusty, porous and rough sub-floors must be prepared in accordance with the instructions given by each adhesive manufacturer respectively involved.
II. Installation:
- Cutting seams
Basically, seams are cut prior to gluing on the floor. Cut rolls to length according to the headroom available. Lay out and overlap by approx. 3 cm rolls cut to size, the edge trimmed at the factory lying over the untrimmed edge. Correct the edge trimmed at the factory by means of a ruler (at a distance of approx.
1 cm from the trimmed flooring edge) and of the nora® seam cutter or the straight blade with 3 cutting edges, while cutting the underlying roll. The strip cut in this way is then pulled downwards, or cut off using the hooked blade. The strip should, on no account, be pulled upwards.
Affix a mark over the seam (to make sure that the seam will fit snugly and tightly during installation at a later stage).
- Fixing::
Neoprene adhesives are suitable for gluing operations, and possibly dispersion adhesives in agreement with the adhesive manufacturer concerned. Apply the adhesive as specified by the manufacturer.
The airing time required depends on the temperature, the air humidity, and the absorption capacity of the sub-floor involved. As a result, no definite period of time can be indicated here.
Lay flooring edges stress-free. Press or crush under no circumstances.
Rub the flooring carefully into place over the entire area using a cork board, for example. If dispersion adhesives are used, rub again after a while depending on the temperature involved, especially over end sections and seam areas.
The flooring must be protected against any fluctuations in temperature, e.g. exposure to solar radiation, during installation and the adhesive bonding time.
- Forming corners:
a) Inner corners can be cut to size, thus providing a sharp edge to be sealed subsequently by means of a 2-component TH joint sealing compound. A nora® cushioned-edge profile H 9010 may be placed in the inner corner as an alternative. It is not necessary to cut the flooring when implementing this option.
b) Floorings should not be removed for outer corners. In this case, appropriate edges and/or edge-protecting profiles must be fixed prior to installation on which the floorings can neatly be placed.
- Jointing:
If seams are cut in a technically appropriate manner, floorings need not be sealed. Should the user insist, however, on a sealing of the flooring, this can be done both with our nora® hot welding rod and nora® TH joint sealing compound.
- Cleaning:
Cleaning is to be performed after installation using an appropriate alcohol and/or multi-purpose cleaning agent. The use of an articulated mop holder and an adequate mop cover is recommended for cleaning large areas.
Routine cleaning must be effected by means of an appropriate wash polish.
