Suitable subfloors
Stairs made of wood, stone, screed (primed), metal, as well as other hard and solid subfloors.
-
Subfloor preparation
The subfloor must be dry and free of grease and dust; screeds must be primed (dust laying). The relevant national standards applying in each country (DIN, OE standard, SIA, etc.) for the installation of rubber floorings and the instructions from the manufacturer concerned must be complied with. The subfloor must be level and sufficiently sold to walk on.
-
Cutting the stairtread to size:
Cut for each step one stairtread to size in the usual way, following the manufacturer's instructions.
-
Applying nora® Stepfix
Apply nora® Stepfix to the entire areas of riser and tread and rub it into place. Tape overlaps are permissible. Do not leave any uncovered spaces. Small folds and overlaps will no longer be visible once the stairtread has been installed.
Tip: To make cutting strips of nora® Stepfix easier slightly wet the knife and your hands with water.

-
Positioning the stairtread
Away from the stair nosing, peel off approx. 10 cm of nora® Stepfix's protective paper and fold it back. Position stairtread and rub into place. Then pull the remaining protective paper from under the stairtread and thoroughly rub the stairtread into place. After that, finish the installation routine for the stairtread following the manufacturer's instructions.

Please note:
Recommended temperature for installation: not less than 15 °C. Prior to their use, condition stairtreads on site, following the manufacturer's instructions.
nora® Stepfix has been tested and approved only for norament® rubber stairtreads from the nora systems company. We cannot accept any warranty for the fixing of other materials. Use only on stairs, not for large areas. If stairtreads are installed side by side on one step, contact adhesive has to be used instead of nora® Stepfix.
When a norament® stairtread installed with nora® Stepfix is removed at a later juncture, some of the adhesive may remain behind on the subfloor. For this reason, nora® Stepfix is not suitable for use on existing floors which are to be re-used in their original condition.
