Rolls and tiles
Rolls
As per DIN EN 1816 "Elastic floorcoverings - Elastomer
floorcoverings with cellular coating".
One-side dispersion adhesives are suitable for fixing noraplan® with a foam underlay.
Stress-free levelling compounds may exhibit reduced absorbency. This must be taken into account when using dispersion adhesive by modifying the point of time for embedding, since the water content in the dispersion adhesive must be largely absorbed by the air. At the time of installation and of adhesive bonding, the subfloor temperature must be not less than 15° C. The noraplan® rubber must have the subfloor temperature.
Especially in winter time the rubber floorcovering has to be stored at site several days.
Installation and fixing
A: sheets/ rolls
Always cut the seam before fixing. Unroll both sheets in such a way that they overlap approx. 3 cm; place the edge cut by the factory over the uncut edge. By means of a steel straight edge (distance to the edge of the sheet: approx. 1 cm) and the nora® seam cutter or a straight blade (see under nora® tool range), straighten the edge cut by the factory and cut through the wearing layer of the sheet underneath. Sever the remaining foam layer by means of the large hooked blade.
Width of the cut-off edge strip: approx. 2 cm.

On large surfaces with head seams, the seams are cut with a straight blade or with the nora® seam cutter along a bar after the edge of the sheet has been marked with a line.
The edges of two short sheets - no longer than the length of the ruler - can also be cut along a bar. Then the sheets are just positioned neatly next to each other.
Under no circumstances may both edges be cut at the same time with the "large hooked blade".
Due to the high resilience of the material it is not possible to make an underlying edge cut.
Please note:
Pay attention to the arrows on the floorcovering's back; make sure the arrows on the back are all pointing in the same direction.
B: Tiles
Experience has shown that it is best to cover the whole room or larger areas subdivided areas with the loose tiles first, and than cut the border tiles, tiles for the door openings, pipes apertures, etc.
Make sure the arrows on the back are all pointing in the same direction, and meet as shown in the picture.
By arranging the tiles in this way you will achieve the best results in installation.
Then the rows of tiles are turned over and fixed. This method has the advantage of avoiding crooked joints or shifted joints, because the tiles positioned on the floor serve as a stop for the tiles to be installed.
Strictly follow the recommendations and processing instructions of the adhesive manufacturers. If in doubt confirmation must be obtained from the adhesive manufacturer as to whether the adhesive you want to use is suitable for fixing the flooring in question on the subfloor involved.
Dispersion adhesive
Apply the adhesive to the subfloor with a serrated blade (e.g. TKB A2).
Consumption: approx. 300 - 350 g/m²
 TKB A2
Replace worn serrated blades in good time.
Airing time required will depend on the temperature, the humidity and the absorbency of the subfloor concerned, which is why a precise time cannot be stated.
The adhesive furrow must still have a soft core. When checking by means of the touch test, the adhesive must still be tacky, but must no longer smear. When the floorcovering is embedded in the adhesive, care must be taken to ensure that the entire back of the floorcovering is completely covered with adhesive.
Position flooring edges without applying pressure.
Under no circumstances should they be pressed or crushed. Indentations e.g. caused by knees must be avoided.
Carefully rub the floorcovering into place over its entire surface, e.g. using a cork board, or press it down into position both longitudinally and transversely with a heavy iron roller (approx. 50 kg) on the entire surface. When dispersion adhesive is used, this procedure must be repeated after a while (depending on the temperature), in particular at ends and seams.
During the installation and adhesive bonding period, the flooring must be protected against temperature fluctuations, e.g. as a result of direct sunlight.
Wet or damp cleaning may only be carried out after the adhesive has bonded, i.e. after approx. 48 hours.
Sealing the joints of the floorcovering
A: rolls
Together with normal wet maintenance or initial cleaning the joints requires joint-sealing with nora® hot welding rod - but not earlier than 24 hours after installation.
B: sheets/ rolls
If the joints of noraplan®-footfall-sound-protection floorings have not been sealed, the initial cleaning must be done in the spray-cleaner-method and the maintenance cleaning only as damp-wiping.
The normal standard wet cleaning is not allowed.
Special hints
-
Castor-wheeled office chairs must be equipped with castors with soft rolling tracks. Similarly, if the floorcovering is going to be subjected to rolling devices, the mean area pressure exerted by the castors on the floor must not exceed 4 N/mm².
If the floorcovering is going to be subjected to castor-wheeled traffic, the screed and the process materials used (e.g. levelling compound, adhesive) must be suitable for castor-wheeled traffic.
-
If installed on screeds with underfloor heating, please follow the instructions given under Important notes / General remarks - 10. screed with underfloor heating.
In addition, only adhesives with the appropriate temperature-resistant properties may be used.
In addition, only adhesives with special thermal-stability properties may be used.
